Question by Supergal: How do you fix an ice crusher/ dispenser in a Kenmore fridge?
I have a Kenmore Elite side by side fridge. It is a year old and just went out of warranty a month ago. Tonight the ice dispenser quit working. It makes a noise like it is going to crush and/or dispense, then it sounds like the motor gives out. I know I can have a repairman come and fix it, but am curious if it is an easy and inexpensive problem to fix.

Have you removed the ice bin and made sure there isn’t a block of ice jammed in the mechanism? Sometimes, if you open the freezer door frequently, condensation will form on the cubes and fuse them together. You may have to clean out the old ice and start over.
