Authentic Bartending

Authentic Bartending
is the authentic bartending school good?
It depends which “authentic bartending school” you are talking about. If you are talking about the ad in the newspapers saying you will earn “x” amount weekly, it’s not worth it. You pay to take a class to get a license to serve alcohol. It’s not worth the money you have to fork out.
Your best bet, if you are interested in taking classes in mixology in addition to learning the stuff you would with the “authentic bartending school,” is to check at your local colleges. Ask their registrar offices if they have a hospitality management school, and see what they offer in the lines of culinary or mixology classes.
Do your research before you write out any checks, and avoid calling “800″ numbers (or any like it). The best, though, is to apply as a bartender and learn as you go. That’s what I did!
If you’ve ever traveled to Glacier National Park, or any of America’s National Parks, you’re well aware of the extravagant cost of restaurants. Not only that, but by just stabbing in the dark you’re likely to eat tasteless and protein-less food that will suck your wallet dry. But there’s no reason for this to be so! After working and traveling for two summers in Montana’s Glacier National Park, I’ve learned the park’s dining secrets. And that doesn’t mean cooking every meal on your campstove or grill.
Following an excruciating backpacking trip or day hike on one of Glacier’s trails, I know the last thing you want to do is cook food. So, lick your chops and prepare to salivate as we tour Glacier National Park’s restaurants and cheap eats!
West Side of Glacier National Park
Jammer Joe’s Grill & Pizzeria
I can’t write an article on food in Glacier National Park without beginning with Jammer Joe’s, my stomping ground for two summers. Just a stone’s throw away from Lake McDonald Lodge and with Bear Mountain looming behind, Jammer Joe’s is one of the most popular family destinations in the park. It offers casual dining, eclectic employees, and hip music (selected entirely by employees). Jammer Joe’s is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., has a steal of a pizza and salad buffet, and offers two beers on tap, one usually being Fat Tire, to cool down with after finishing a long day hike. Cheap Eats: ***** Quality: *** Family Friendly: *****
Russell’s Fireside Dining Room
Located inside Lake McDonald Lodge, this overly fancy restaurant is a complete and utter tourist trap. Unless a tacky décor consisting of hunting trophies adorning the walls and cedar beams criss-crossing the ceiling, all in a feeble attempt of hearkening back to Lake McDonald’s hunting lodge days, is worth emptying your wallet on mediocre food, walk across the lawn to Jammer Joe’s. Get some protein for breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., munch on some lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and empty your wallet for dinner from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Cheap Eats: * Quality: ** Family Friendly: *
The Stockade Lounge
A bar located on the backside of Lake McDonald Lodge, The Stockade Lounge has friendly bartenders and casual patrons. A great place to unwind with an older crowd. Open from 11:30 a.m. to midnight, with lunch and bar menu munchies from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cheap Eats: **** Quality: *** Family Friendly: *
Eddie’s
Eddie’s is located next to the Apgar Village Lodge. Family owned, it provides a wonderful atmosphere with the shores of Lake McDonald lapping a few steps away. In addition to some of Glacier’s best ice cream (and what a wonderful way to chill out after a day hike on Huckleberry Trail), breakfast, lunch and dinner are also served. Cheap Eats: ***** Quality: *** Family Friendly: *****
East Side of Glacier National Park
Park Cafe and Grocery No trip to Montana’s Glacier National Park is complete with a meal (and dessert!) from the Park Café. Located in St. Mary, Montana, a few miles from the east entrance of Glacier National Park, the Park Café is well worth the few minute drive. Pies for Strength is their motto and after a day hike on one of Glacier’s many trails, nothing will better rejuvenate you for your next adventure. The Park Café is also one of the greatest locations for employment in Glacier National Park. Cheap Eats: **** Quality: ***** Family Friendly *****
