Bartending Supplies

I’m moving to Okinawa in February with my husband who is a marine. I am still in school and the only real experience I have is working in the service industry in restaurants and bars. I’ve been bartending for 3 years now and would like to know if it is even possible for me to get the same kind of job over there.

Off base will be impossible. You need a work visa, and a job offer to get the visa. You’d also need native level Japanese.
Most Americans teach English. You need a four year degree for that.
Service jobs will always go to a native Japanese first.

You can work on-base bars (e-club for the marine corps & Banyan club for kadena air force) as long as there’s an opening & there’s a lot of restaurants on base that you can work at & there is no problem for application because spouses/dependents are priority & if you’re planning to work off-base bars as long as it is an american & american-operated bar i think you can apply too coz they would know what to do concerning tax..my hubby is a marine too & is station here in Oki but i’m working off-base (travel agency) because i’m a japanese resident & can speak Japanese eventhough i’m a foreigner here…

..there are some job (GI jobs) on base & even though you don’t have a degree as long as you have proper experience you can also apply & again spouse/dependents are priority.
