From the first day of July 2007 was smoke-free England including pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants and cafes. This means that any client wishing to have a smoke have to work outside.

All companies need to ensure legally their premises are smoke free and no smoking signs in prominent places including all public entrances. All non-smoking signs must have the international network of 'no smoking' symbol and should be a minimum of A5 size or 210mm x 148mm in the area, and all signs must bear the following wording "No smoking. It is against the law to smoke in these premises 'in characters that can be easily read.
Businesses must also take reasonable steps to ensure that customers and staff are aware that premises are legally required to be smoke free, ultimate responsibility for compliance rests with the manager.
The penalties for failure to those with management responsibility pounds is a fixed penalty of up to 1000 for not showing the least amount of no smoking signs, not to prevent smoking in an area of nonsmokers with a fine of up to 2500 pounds. the individual or the customer who smokes in a nonsmoking area can be fined up to 200 pounds.
No smoking signs are Available in different sizes and materials, self adhesive vinyl signs are designed to be stuck to glass surfaces and are useful for gateways that have glass windows. The rigid plastic signs with pre-drilled holes for fixing to the exterior or interior walls are difficult to use and seal security.
Table or free standing signs are also available, but should only be used to supplement their permant no smoking signs and removing signal means that do not comply and is liable to a fine.
The legislation does not cover outdoor spaces. However, members may consider the possibility of a no-smoking policy a certain distance from entrances so that people do not have to walk through a cloud of smoke to enter the club.
