Bartending Mixology

If you’re looking for a private party bartender, be sure to set your standards high. Not only should this person be knowledgeable when pouring drinks, they also need to bring a great personality. All of this should be done while maintaining a high level of professionalism, the perfect mix of fun and hard work!

A bartender should be in direct contact with their potential client before the event. This way they are familiar with exactly what is expected of them, answer any questions for their client, and build a friendly relationship so they are comfortable the night of the event.

Your bartender should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the event to familiarize themselves with the area they will be working in and to set up their work station. It should act, for the evening, as a full functioning and efficient bar. This is also the time for preparing garnishes, chilling alcohols or anything else the client needs. . They should bring all their own equipment and a bar back if needed to assist in fast drink service for your guests.

Every private party bartender should be a master mixologist. They should know what drinks be made according to the alcohols and mixers you will be providing, and create a personalized drink menu for your event. A good bartender will cater to each guests needs, and make sure everyone is satisfied. Anyone can memorize how to pour a drink, but it must be served with a great attitude and outgoing bartender.

how do i get experience as a barmaid/bartender if no one wants to hire a new grad from bartending school?

I took a bartending course and got my mixology certificate. Searching for positions from local bars and even in places like Red Lobster, and Applebee’s. No one wants to hire a new grad from a bartending school, my question is how am I suppose to get experience anywhere, if no wants to hire me because I lack experience.

The bartending schools graduate almost 25 graduates for every single job opening. They don’t tell you that when they take your money. At most bars, you are pouring beer for 90% of the customers so no one cares about a “certificate”.
Go anywhere there are catered affairs (golf courses, hotels with wedding receptions, convention centers) and tell the caterer that you are willing to sub in (on short notice) if any of their bartenders calls in sick or goes on vacation. That may be your quickest entry into the world of bartending.
