Weddings are such a busy time, and there is so much to organize. The last thing that any bride wants is to get to the day of the wedding and realize that she has overlooked something. To help you be as prepared as possible, here is a handy wedding reception checklist.
To some extent, what you will need to remember for your wedding reception will depend on your venue. If you are working with a club or hotel that provides most of what you need, your list will be shorter. On the other hand, if you are having a wedding at home or in a tent, you may need even more than the items covered on this basic checklist. To get you started, be sure that you have:
A venue under contract. Without that, the rest of this will not help you! At the most basic level, for an outdoor wedding, you will need a tent, a dance floor, lighting, restrooms, and possibly space heaters. Depending on your location, a separate catering tent may also be required. Also be sure to check out the electricity situation, as well as if any permits are needed for a large wedding at home.
Other wedding reception basics include: tables and chairs, as well as tablecloths, napkins, and possibly chair covers. To go on the dinner tables, you will need china, glasses (wine, water, cocktail, beer, and coffee cups with saucers), and flatware. Of course the tables will need decorations, so add to your list centerpieces (including the vases), candles and holders, and any other special touches you may wish to have for your reception, such as chandeliers. Something else that is often a part of contemporary weddings is a change of clothing for the bride. If you plan to change into a party dress, you will need to have your second dress, shoes, and extra accessories like Swarovski bridal earrings. You should also bring a garment bag for your first gown as well as the boxes for the first set of bridal shoes, Swarovski earrings, and the rest of your ceremony attire.
Of course, a wedding reception needs food and drinks, both for the cocktail hour and the dinner portion of the event. In addition to the caterer and food, you will need to have adequate serving staff and bartenders. For a wedding at home or in a tent, you will also need to bring in the bar itself, as well as everything required to fully stock it, from drinks and mixers, garnishes, napkins, shakers and strainers, and glasses. Another key element for a wedding reception is the wedding cake and the groom’s cake, if desired. The cake means you will need a topper (if the baker is not decorating the top of the cake), a cake cutting knife and server, as well as the plates and flatware to serve dessert. You may also wish to have a special pair of toasting glasses for the newlyweds.
Another big thing to check off your reception list is the musicians, along with the necessary sound equipment and a playlist for the bandleader or d.j. Cocktail bar equipment?
Hiya, Does anyone know, where to get a good Boston shaker, straihner, barspoon ect for a reasble price in the internet? Are there any advices you can give me how to reconize good equipment?
Believe it or not, one of the cheapest places to buy decent barware is Ikea.
I have gotten english pub-style glasses there for less than 1/2 of a bar supply place, 2 complete shaker sets (one plastic and retro, the other stainless and glass) both for well under $10.
Check out your local store, or maybe they have some of the stuff in their online catalog…not sure.
