If you like award winning rum, Jamaica is the place to get it. Not to say that other Caribbean rums aren’t really good, there are many great types of rum in the islands. However, this mellow spirit from the third largest English speaking island in north America is world renown for the best rum for both enjoying with or without an added mix. When drinking with a person from the Caribbean while at a Jamaica all inclusive resort, you may find that drinking it straight up is the preference of natives.
Of course, that isn’t what rum is originally known for. There’s rum and Coke and a whole variety of other tropical drinks that include pineapple, coconut, and other fruits along with other alcohols that have given it worldwide recognition. The cool thing about all inclusive Jamaica resorts is that you can try as many of these drinks as you want and not worry about the price. Price may not be what you should worry about; it should be how much rum you drink.
One of the biggest hits lately in the United States is a Mojito. You might try it with a wide variety of rums, from dark to light and strong to smooth. Many people find the mix of mint and sugar water to be the key. On your inclusive vacations you might find that the bartenders will have their private recipe. Try them, they’re free. For an added benefit, Jamaican rum is also known as a cold remedy.

Have about a half cup of mint to use up?
Have already exhausted the mojito (and my supply of light rum), and can’t really get lamb around here. What can I do with it?
Strawberries. Any way you can think of. Strawberry daiquiries with mint are a great summer drink. Icecream/sorbet with strawberries and mint are refreshing, too. It’s even good in salad with a citrus based vinaigrette.
Or just add some kick to a fruit salad.
