I am a big fan of Oxo products and have a drawer-full. This is one I tossed out. It’s called a “stopper” and the description says “seals for storage”. I bought this because I wanted to store oils and the like in my fridge on their side. This sounded perfect; I could drizzle stuff out, then that seal would keep it from leaking when I closed it. Turns out that’s not the case. It leaked. Thinking it was defective, I called Oxo. The friendly folks in customer service said it was not defective, it DOES NOT seal when placed on its side.
Forgive me for assuming that the word “stopper” meant it was actually, well, a stopper. Calling this a “stopper” is akin to the box in the grocery store with a beautiful picture of a meal and the words “serving suggestion” on the box.

This pourer is so convenient. You can pour what is needed and the pourer closes to keep the oil fresh.

I was concerned about all the reviews that speak about this pourer not fitting the bottle. But I was so desperate for a decent pourer, one that would also seal the bottle, that I decided to try it. It fits my bottle perfectly! Works perfectly, is very well made and I couldn’t be more pleased. I use a lot of olive oil so I buy large bottles of it, the size of a standard wine bottle.

I wish I had read the reviews here before I purchased it. I put it into my cart just to think about it, then accidentally bought it with my next purchase. Now my boyfriend won’t let me return the stopper even though it ***does not fit ANY bottle*** I have tried to use it in. Not the IKEA olive oil bottle I bought it for as a replacement stopper and not any of the olive oil bottles I have from the grocery store. Mr. “I’ll get it to work” has not had any luck so far. Save your money. Try something else.

The plastic material is not pliable enough to fit almost every single bottle that I’ve tried. Not only that, but within a very short period of time a separation occurs between the metal and plastic part of the pourer, that causes oil to leak out the sides of the unit. I’ve gone through three of these pourers in a very short period of time, and it happened to each one of them. I love the look, the style, and the way it works, but the defects lower my rating to a rock bottom rating of one star.
